Child and Adolescent Services

Assurance Health and Wellness (AHW) Child and Adolescent Services is dedicated to being a comprehensive behavioral health provider committed to integrating physical health and primary care. Co-medical leadership from a pediatrician and a psychiatrist sets the tone at the top of the organization. Assurance Health and Wellness is a comprehensive patient centered organization which treats individuals with respect, dignity, and compassion; a comprehensive service provider which provides superior leading edge, best practice and comprehensive whole health services.

PERSON CENTERED PLANNING (The primary focus is health, wellness and self-management of illness.) Emphasis is placed on physical health as well as mental health. Through Person Centered Planning, care is tailored to each individual such that each member’s treatment plan will be integrated and designed to treat the whole person.

Services are provided through an interdisciplinary team and include:
  • Primary care, physician health risk assessment
  • Lab work upon intake and throughout the treatment course
  • Psychiatric assessment
  • Behavior management plans
  • Crisis intervention, vocational and employment services
  • Wellness programs
  • Medication management services
  • Individual, group and family counseling
  • Substance use disorder counseling
  • Family support
  • Homebased services

AHW will provide intensive treatment and support services to high needs children and their families.

Each team includes a pediatrician, a psychiatrist, case managers, behavioral health therapists, a nurse, a pharmacist, a nutritionist and family support partners. Treatment plans are driven at the direction of each youth and their family with input/recommendations from each discipline so that care is comprehensive and integrated. Outpatient services are available to all youth and families of the community, members with emotional disturbance, such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and autism spectrum disorders and those with general mental health disorders: adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Disorder, and/or various substance use disorders. Behavioral and Physical Health Services can be provided in the home, community, or clinic.

PRIMARY CARE: AHW employs Board Certified family physicians, pediatricians and nurse practitioners from whom members may receive primary care services on site, if they so choose. If necessary and appropriate, we will coordinate for specialty care. AHW will also be able to schedule behavioral health and primary care for the same time and day, if a member desires. Other important services that are available to members on-site will be laboratory and dental services. If families have an alternative pediatrician, AHW will coordinate with those physicians. Primary care services will be billed directly to the members’ health plan.

ELIGIBILITY: Assurance Health and Wellness Center will offer integrated care services to AHCCCS eligible children and adolescents. Some services are available for children and adolescents covered by commercial insurance. Assurance will enroll new members. In addition, members can choose Assurance Health and Wellness for their primary care.
